چکیده

We analyze two simultaneous NuSTAR and SWIFT data of the Atoll type neutron star (NS) X-ray binary 4U 1728–34 observed on 1 and 3 October, 2013. Based on power density spectra, hardness ratio and colour-colour diagram, we infer that the first and second observations belong to the island state and lower banana state, respectively. During island state, a low-frequency quasi-periodic oscillation (LFQPO) at ∼ 4.53 Hz is observed along with four type-I X-ray bursts (∼ 10−15 s duration each). The X-ray luminosity of the source during the island and lower banana states are found to be LX = 1.1 and 1.6 × 10 37 erg s, respectively which correspond to ∼ 6% and ∼ 9% of the Eddington luminosity. The combined burst spectrum is well represented by a blackbody with a characteristic temperature of 2.22± 0.05 keV and the blackbody radius of 9.87±1.86 km which is consistent with the typical radius of the neutron star. The persistent energy spectra from both observations in the energy band 1− 79 keV are well described with thermal emission from the NS surface (kTbb ≃ 1 − 2.5 keV), Comptonized emission of thermal seed photons from the hot boundary layer/corona and the strong reflection component from the accretion disc. We detect a broad Iron line in the 5 − 8 keV band and reflection hump in the 15 − 30 keV band. These features are well modelled by the relxill reflection model. From joint spectral fitting, we constrain the inclination angle of the binary system and inner disc radius to be 22◦ − 40◦ and (2.8 − 4.3)×RISCO, respectively. From inner disc radius, we estimate the magnetic field to be (3.3− 6.5)× 10 Gauss.

The disc - jet coupling in the neutron star X - ray binary

We study the accretion/ejection processes (i.e. disc/jet coupling) in the neutron star X-ray binary Aquila X-1 via a multi-wavelength approach. We use in the radio band the publicly available Very Large Array archive containing observations of the object between 1986–2005, in the X-ray band the archival Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer data (Proportional Counter Array and High Energy X-ray Timing Ex...

Broadband X - ray emission and the reality of the broad iron line from the Neutron Star – White Dwarf X - ray binary 4 U 1820 – 30

Broad relativistic iron lines from neutron star X-ray binaries are important probes of the inner accretion disk. The X-ray reflection features can be weakened due to strong magnetic fields or very low iron abundances such as is possible in X-ray binaries with low mass, first generation stars as companions. Here we investigate the reality of the broad iron line detected earlier from the neutron ...

Towards Three Bursting Low - Mass X - ray Binaries from High Resolution X - ray Spectroscopy

We measured the galactic hydrogen column densities to the neutron-star binaries GX 17+2, 4U 1705−44, and 4U 1728−34 by modeling the Mg and Si absorption edges found in high-resolution X-ray spectra obtained by the Chandra X-ray Observatory. We found for GX 17+2, NH = (2.38 ± 0.12) × 10 22 cm, for 4U 1705−44, NH = (2.44 ± 0.09) × 10 cm, and for 4U 1728−34, NH = (2.49 ± 0.14) × 10 22 cm. These va...

Correlation between radio luminosity and X-ray timing frequencies in neutron star and black hole X-ray binaries

We report on correlations between radio luminosity and X-ray timing features in X-ray binary systems containing low magnetic field neutron stars and black holes. The sample of neutron star systems consists of 4U 1728–34, 4U 1820–34, Ser X-1, MXB 1730-335, GX 13+1, the millisecond X-ray pulsars SAX J1808.4-3658 and IGR J00291+5934, and these are compared with the black hole system GX 339–4. The ...

On the Frequency Evolution of X-ray Brightness Oscillations During Thermonuclear X-ray Bursts: Evidence for Coherent Oscillations

We investigate the time dependence of the frequency of X-ray brightness oscillations during thermonuclear X-ray bursts from several neutron star low mass X-ray binaries (LMXB). We find that the oscillation frequency in the cooling tails of X-ray bursts from 4U 1702-429 and 4U 1728-34 is well described by an exponential “chirp” model. With this model we demonstrate that the pulse trains in the c...
